DRIVERS SHOULD USE CAUTION IN ROADWAY CONSTRUCTION ZONES

OKLAHOMA CITY, February 4, 2020 – Airport maintenance crews at WRWA are prepared for the forecasted snow tonight and Wednesday and will be ready to treat runways, taxiways and roadways to maintain airport operations.  It is not anticipated that the airport will close.

In advance of the storm, Southwest Airlines has cancelled the last five arriving flights tonight.Southwest’s first departure will be at 10:00am tomorrow morning. No other flights have been cancelled at this time.

Delays are possible tomorrow morning. The most likely cause for delays will be de-icing procedures prior to flight departures.American, Delta and Southwest airlines are waiving fees to change reservations for travelers. Travelers who do not want to take a chance on getting delayed are encouraged to look at alternate days to travel.  Travelers should call their airline’s customer care number or visit the airline’s website to make changes.

Airport maintenance crews will be diligent in clearing Terminal Drive; however, drivers should keep in mind that this roadway is under construction and they should use extra caution when navigating during inclement weather.

As always, the airport urges travelers and visitors to check on their flight status prior to coming to the airport. Most airlines offer flight updates via mobile app, text notifications or the airline’s website. These are very convenient ways to stay informed about a flight’s status.
