American Airlines Launches New Nonstop Service to Philadelphia from WRWA

June 7, 2018

OKLAHOMA CITY, June 7, 2018 – Today, American Airlines launched two new nonstop flights from Will Rogers World Airport (WRWA) to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).  The new service provides more connecting options to the Northeast and to Trans-Atlantic destinations.

“We work hard to bring routes to our community that travelers want,” says Mark Kranenburg, airports director.  “Philadelphia has long been a targeted destination for the city’s air service network.  The domestic and international connecting opportunities offered will greatly benefit our travelers.”

“Nonstop service to the east coast is vital for business travelers,” says Roy Williams, president and CEO of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. “Not only do we have access to the growing market of Philadelphia, but shorter connections to other east coast destinations and another international hub for transatlantic destinations. The growth in nonstop service is a testament to the strength of our market and is a vote of confidence for its continued development.”

Philadelphia is the second new destination American has added to the Oklahoma City market in the last three months.  The carrier began nonstop service to Phoenix on April 8, 2018.  The airline has also added more seat capacity to DFW.

“With all the great things going on in Oklahoma City, it’s exciting so see American be a part of it,” says Kranenburg.  “Nonstop service to major markets is integral to keeping our city on an upward trajectory. We appreciate American’s commitment to providing our community with great air service options.”

The addition of Philadelphia brings the total number of cities served by American from WRWA to six and includes Dallas/Ft. Worth, Chicago, Charlotte, Los Angeles and Phoenix.  The average number of daily departures by the carrier is 19.

The two daily flights will utilize the Embraer 175 (E-175) aircraft.  The first flight is timed to make northeast connections in the morning and the second to make Trans-Atlantic connections in the afternoon.
