Renovation Begins on Elevator Lobbies in Hourly/Premium Parking Garage

January 3, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY, January 3, 2020 – Work gets underway Monday, January 6 on a $5.7 million renovation project of the elevator/escalator lobbies in the two-story parking garage that houses Hourly and Premium Parking. The project will significantly upgrade the lobbies on all levels, including the pedestrian tunnel level, and will improve operational efficiency and aesthetics.

Visually identified as the “Yellow Garage”, the lobbies provide access to the pedestrian tunnel and the terminal building from premium parking on level one and hourly parking on level 2.  The current configuration of the lobbies includes two elevators and two escalators.  The two escalators, which are undersized for travelers with large bags, will be removed and replaced with two high-speed elevators.  The two existing elevators will be completely refurbished.  Additional renovations include replacement of the roof, glass curtain walls, entry doors and new terrazzo flooring.

Access to all three levels will be maintained throughout the project, but visitors should be aware that multiple entrances to the lobbies may be closed at any given time.  Visitors should look for, and follow, directional signage.

The project is anticipated to last approximately one year.  Wynn Construction is the general contractor.
