Airport Prepared for Winter Weather

Possible Delays/Cancellations as Storms Move East
Drivers Should Use Caution in Roadway Construction Zones

OKLAHOMA CITY, January 10, 2020 – Airport maintenance crews at WRWA are prepared for forecasted snow Friday night and Saturday and will be ready to treat runways, taxiways and roadways to maintain airport operations.

While significant impacts at WRWA are not expected, there is a high probability of delays and possible cancellations late tonight and Saturday morning. The most likely cause for delays will be de-icing procedures prior to flight departures. As the storm moves eastward, conditions at other airports will also have an impact. American, Southwest and United airlines are already waiving fees to change reservations for certain travel days. Travelers who do not want to take a chance on getting delayed are encouraged to look at alternate days to travel. Travelers should call their airline’s customer care number or visit the airline’s website to make changes.

Airport maintenance crews will be diligent in clearing Terminal Drive; however, drivers should keep in mind that this roadway is under construction and they should use extra caution when navigating during inclement weather.

As always, the airport urges travelers and visitors to check on their flight status prior to coming to the airport. Most airlines offer flight updates via mobile app, text notifications or on the airline’s website. These are very convenient ways to stay informed about a flight’s status.

Travelers can also check their flight status at flyokc.com.
