OKLAHOMA CITY, February 21, 2018 – As of 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Will Rogers World
Airport had recorded 35 total cancellations and numerous delays.  The airport remained open
throughout the day and many flights were able to operate. Several inbound flights are still
expected this evening.

More winter weather is anticipated in the morning and will likely impact a.m. departures.  Six
flights have already been cancelled.  The airport urges anyone traveling to WRWA tonight or in
the morning to check flight status prior to coming to the airport. Check flight status at
flyokc.com, flightaware.com or the airlines’ websites or social media sites.

Airport maintenance crews will continue to work through the night to keep runways and
taxiways clear. Additional airport staff will be working on the roadways, sidewalks and parking
areas.  It is not anticipated that the airport will close. Airport staff will continuously monitor
weather conditions throughout the evening.

OKLAHOMA CITY, February 21, 2018 – As of 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, Will Rogers World Airport is open and flights are arriving and departing on schedule. However, as freezing precipitation moves into the area later in the morning, it is anticipated that flight schedules will be disrupted. Southwest Airlines has cancelled four departures and three arrivals for late morning and early afternoon, in advance of the storm. Southwest is allowing their customers to change travel plans at no charge.

Thunderstorms and potential ice in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area will also impact OKC flights.

Travelers should keep in mind that de-icing delays are common, especially when an airline has multiple flights trying to depart at the same time. The airline will work as quickly as possible to keep flights on time, but the safety for all those on the flight is the primary concern. Additionally, while the airport may be open and runways clear, airlines must consider numerous other conditions when deciding flights are delayed or canceled.

Airport maintenance crews are standing by to treat and clear runways and taxiways. It is not anticipated that the airport will close. Airport staff will continuously monitor weather conditions throughout the day.

The airport urges anyone traveling to WRWA today to check flight status prior to coming to the airport. Check flight status at flyokc.com, flightaware.com or the airlines’ websites or social media sites.
